Why did Halsey work with BTS

Halsey criticizes the radio host for making “racist” statements comparing BTS to the coronavirus

Halsey met a German radio presenter who compared the K-pop band BTS to the coronavirus.

Matthias Matuschik sparked outrage earlier this week when he stabbed the group and was described by the singer as "racist and xenophobic" for his comments.

After playing the cover of Coldplay hit Fix You, he described it as "blasphemy" - calling the popular act "a shitty virus that hopefully will soon be vaccinated".

Pregnant Halsey was furious at his words and went on Instagram to join the Korean boy band.

She worked with them two years ago after crouching and playing their single Boy With Luv.

“I am appalled to read Matthias Matuschik's comments,” wrote the 26-year-old.

“Racism and xenophobia cannot be disguised as“ on air humor ”. Irresponsible and disgusting statements at a time when hate speech and violent behavior towards Asian communities are skyrocketing. This is unacceptable.

"I hope a better apology is on the way to BTS and the Asian communities around the world."

The DJ tried to downplay his comment shortly after, but has to apologize.

But the BTS fan base was not sold, calling on him to apologize after his first testimony.

The radio star said, "I have nothing against South Korea, you can't accuse me of xenophobia just because this boy band is from South Korea.

“I have a car from South Korea. I have the coolest car there is. ”

Matuschik then joked that the group would be "vacationing North Korea for the next 20 years" as punishment for their cover song.

The fans were furious and some on Twitter called his comments “gross”.

The DJ's comments come after reports of anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States.

It is alleged that violence is linked to conspiracy theories about the virus, which was first discovered in Wuhan, China.

In 2020, BTS was the fastest band to have five albums at the top of the Billboard 200 album charts in the US since the Beatles.
