Due to the spread of the corona virus, concerts are canceled worldwide. We have summarized for you which livestreams make the concert break a little easier and where you can follow the concerts of your favorite musicians live.

Tickets for current streaming events

Concerts all over the world have to Covid-19 can be canceled and social distancing is the word of the day. For all of us, it means staying at home first, only going outside in an emergency and staying (or getting) healthy. This not only affects many fans, but of course also the numerous musicians who are now sitting on the sofa instead of in the tour bus to be on the safe side.

Fortunately, we're living in 2021 and concerts are simply moving to the internet. Many concerts are currently being streamed for free via special websites, social networks or other providers, even if the offer of paid streams is growing - also in Germany. We provide an overview and give a few tips on how the concert break at the beginning of 2021 can be made a bit more bearable with streams:

Neoclassical livestream series from OBEN and Ticketmaster

In June, Ticketmaster presents a new livestream series from the Berlin concert agency OBEN Live, which brings great artists from the international neoclassical and crossover scene into your living room. Every Thursday from 8:30 p.m. you can look forward to the finest sound art, live in the stream on Facebook - here at Ticketmaster Germany.

It all started with the British newcomer on June 4th Harvey Causon. It continued with in the next few weeks Simeon Walker (June 11th), Martyn Heyne (June 18) and Niklas Paschburg (25th June).

In July, neoclassical fans and everyone who wants to become one were allowed to attend concerts by Sun Daze (2nd July), Glass Museum (July 9th), Alex Proud (16th of July), Ami Dang (July 23) and Peter Broderick (July 30th) in the livestream.

In August it goes with Lisa Morgenstern (6th of August), Chad Lawson (13 August), Caoilfhionn Rose (August 20) and Arnold Kasar (August 27th) continues.

#SEATsounds lunch break - Thursdays from 12 noon

Every two weeks on Thursdays there is musical support for the lunch break: from 12 noon there is on the SEAT Germany YouTube channel to experience a small live set of great artists in the stream. The next act was ELIFwho streamed a concert on July 2nd.

The SEAT livestream series on YouTube already delighted tens of thousands of music fans in the spring. Played on April 2nd Clueso for you, a week later it went with Joy Denalane& Max Herre further. It all started with the guys from CLANwho presented a small set of their most beautiful songs live and acoustically:

Played on Thursday April 16 Mika Setzer at the #SEATsounds lunch break, followed by TEESY & NKSN, Rola, Gentleman and other live acts. The second round started in mid-June - this time national superstars come to the #SEATsounds lunch break every two weeks. The second season started in mid-June TimBendzko, followed by ELIF.

The next live stream is already in the starting blocks: On Thursday, September 17th, LOTTE will be a guest at the #SEATsounds lunch break from 12 noon.

Paul van Dyk: Regular Sunday Sessions

The German DJ legend Paul van Dyk also regularly streams live sets to the world via Facebook and YouTube. There have already been over a dozen “Sunday Sessions” - initially from the living room, and now from various locations. In the past few weeks Paul van Dyk has been a guest with his Sunday Session Live Sets above the rooftops of Frankfurt or at the Zeiss Planetarium in Berlin:

On Sunday, July 5th, there was a premiere to celebrate: The first Sunday session with audience (in accordance with the current hygiene standards in a kind of electronic beer garden) in Sage Beach in Berlin - the limited tickets were sold out in no time.

Live from Home: Lots of video highlights

Our friends from Live Nation bring artists and fans together. Here you will find a wide range of live streams of entire concerts, current Instagram streams and much more. Green Days Billie Joe Armstrong plays a cover song from home every Monday, the Members of The Strokes discuss with each other via video calls and Ariana Grande presents a unique version of their song "My Everything".

XJazz Berlin relocates festival online

Actually, many artists, big and small, from various musical styles in Berlin-Kreuzberg became an annual event at the beginning of May Indoor festival XJazz expected, but luckily we didn't have to do without the first-class program: On Wednesday and Thursday (April 29 and 30) it increased instead XJazz Online Festival and brought many concerts live and free of charge to your living room.

In addition to first-class jazz concerts in the live stream, which are broadcast live on Thursday evening from the deserted Emmaus Church in Berlin, there were parallel panels and talks on Facebook, home sessions in the stream and a party via Zoom. Just like XJAZZ, everything went very spontaneously and creatively. All information, streaming events and channels of the XJazz Online Festival can be found here.

Every week live from Bremen: Voice Over Piano

The duo has been streaming since March Voice over piano a concert every week in the livestream via Facebook and Instagram. So far so (almost) normal in these times, you might think, but that Singer Sara Dähn and the pianist and entertainer Thomas Blaeschke have come up with something special: Every week the duo reports from a different place worth seeing. Recently, for example, from the light-flooded, empty corridors of Bremen Airport (see video), from a roof terrace above the roofs of the Hanseatic city or from the deserted Metropol Theater Bremen.

On Thursday, April 30th at 6 p.m. the live stream concert series by Voice Over Piano will continue: This time the two musicians from the German Emigration Center in Bremerhaven, along with the band and guests from the USA, will be connected live. You can find the Facebook stream here.

Become a #culturretter, donate & stream

Due to the large number of event cancellations and postponements, many cultural workers have to fear for their livelihood. That is why the #kulturretter initiative from Munich primarily supports smaller bands, authors, groups, artists and many other people from the cultural industry in moving their offers to the Internet via live stream. Every day there are lots of readings, concerts and all kinds of culture for young and old in the YouTube stream here on the #kulturretter channel

Travis Scott went on tour in Fortnite

To all hip-hop-savvy gamers out there: From Friday you can not only experience an exclusive live show by US rapper Travis Scott in the online game, but also exclusive and before everyone else the new song "Astronomical" Listen. And even if the total of five live shows between Friday night and Sunday evening can only be experienced virtually, a lot is like a real concert: 30 minutes before the shows are admission and you can secure a good seat. Requires the latest update (April 21) and of course a registration with Fortnite.

#TogetherAtHome: Daily living room concerts in the live stream

Most of the artists stay at home too, but (luckily) they cannot do without concerts entirely. That's why superstars like Niall Horan, Michael Schulte, John Legend or Neil Young simply play concerts in the living room at home - broadcast free of charge all over the world via social networks. Every evening Global Citizen presents a packed line-up of artists who stream a live set via their channels.

Coldplay made the start

Chris Martin started under the hashtag earlier this week #TogetherAtHome with a mini-concert from his studio at home, where the musician played the Coldplay classics Sky Full Of StarsTroubleViva La Vida, Green Eyesand played many more hits solo. In between he chatted with his fans, who were watching live on Instagram. The 30-minute live stream can also be seen retrospectively:

John Legend with surprising news

On Tuesday evening, John Legend followed suit and played his biggest hits at home on the piano in front of his smartphone. In between, his wife Chrissy Teigen stopped by in a bathrobe, daughter Luna Simone climbs around on the piano and in the end there is big news: John Legend will soon be releasing new music.

Niall Horan plays acoustic set

Next, Charlie Puth did the honors, on Thursday evening it went Niall Horan further. If you couldn't be there live and are still looking for a foretaste of the big tour in autumn (then with the support of your great live band), you can now find the acoustic session on YouTube:

Hozier also jams live

Made on Friday evening Hozier continue with a livestream on Instagram. Fans could ask for songs in advance on Twitter that the Irish musician included in his small live set:

Other artists and live acts who have participated with livestreams in the last few days include OneRepublic, Bastille, Steve Aoki, Years & Years, Ziggy Marley or Christine & The Queen. The #TogetherAtHome action is presented by Global Citizen. Lady Gaga presents "One World: Together at home" on 18./19. April

For a large livestream festival, Lady Gaga does not bring together countless superstars and celebrities, but raised 35 million dollars in donations for the WHO in the fight against Covid-19 in advance. On Saturday, April 18th (or for Europeans in the night from Saturday to Sunday) the concert event of the year will take place. The world's most popular musicians gather for a good cause to play songs from their living room and encourage viewers to donate.

In the USA, all major TV stations broadcast the big "One World: Together at Home" livestream event, which the aid organization Global Citizen and the WHO are supposed to support. But fans in Germany can also be there live: There are free live streams on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The preliminary reporting begins on Saturday (April 18th) at 9 p.m. German time, and it really starts at 2 a.m. at night. If you don't want to stay up that long, you can also check out the charity concert event of the year afterwards. It's worth it - these stars will be there live:

Many German musicians also insist on playing extraordinary and very direct concerts for their fans on social networks.

#We stay at home festival

German musicians such as Nico Santos, Alvaro Soler, Michael Schulte, Max Giesinger, Lotte and Johannes Oerding created the German counterpart to the Global Citizen Livestreams at short notice: on Sunday, March 22nd at 6 p.m. Instagram channels of the participating artists the big one #We stay at home festivalwith the Austrian newcomer MATHEA, Afterwards there was a new live stream concert every 30 minutes.

TV Noir: Living room concerts for a good cause

Every year in autumn, TV Noir invites the best singer-songwriters to their acoustic concerts and creates a living room atmosphere in Berlin's Admiralspalast. Now it's getting a little more cozy: every evening the concert series presents acoustic sets, e.g. by Wilhelmine, Alin Coen or Antje Schomaker. Viewers can not only be there live via Facebook and Instagram stream, but also pay “virtually” entry - 100% of the proceeds go to the artists.

Cardinal Sessions from Home: Daily acoustic live videos

Cardinal Sessions is the epitome of first-class produced live videos of acoustic music - and it should stay that way even in times of Corona. Every day there are new videos by many wonderful artists like Leoniden, Kytes, Slow Leaves or Låpsley, who recently enchanted us with this living room version of their hit "Womxn":

Many live streams are also currently being offered outside of social networks. Many artists and cultural workers all over the world develop creative and extraordinary ideas so that we all don't have to do without the magic of live events:

Every Monday a Metallica concert in the stream

Painfully everyone had to Metallica live dates canceled in the summer, as a little consolation for the fans, the band has ventured into their extensive film archive and is now presenting a free concert every Monday in full as a stream on their YouTube and Facebook channels.

Under the hashtag #MetallicaMondays there is now a live recording of a previous Metallica concert to be seen every Monday around 1 a.m. German time on their YouTube and Facebook channels.

MTV Unplugged at Home

The most important music broadcaster in the world is simply relocating its legendary acoustic concert series MTV Unplugged into the living room of the artists. From now on there is a regular powerless concert on YouTube & Co. - the beginning was made Wyclef Jeanwho performed a short set of his greatest hits on the guitar at home in front of an oversized aquarium. His great unplugged version of "Hips Don’t Lie" (from 03:30) puts you in a good mood even in difficult times:

Free for the first time: Bruce Springsteen's Hyde Park concert in the stream

What a surprise: for the first time, the legendary concert in London's Hyde Park from 2009, which was later also released on DVD, can be seen online free of charge. The boss says on Twitter: "Practice social distancing & stream‘ London Calling: Live In Hyde Park ’from the comfort of your own home, now on YouTube & Apple Music in its entirety for the 1st time! Neil Young streams fireplace concerts live from New York

Music legend Neil Young also picks up the guitar every day and broadcasts a small acoustic session from his home in New York via his website. When it should start, the musician still left open - it is therefore worthwhile to keep checking back on his official Twitter channel (he is boycotting Facebook).

Dropkick Murphys live from Boston

On St. Patrick's Day, the Dropkick Murphys played a live show in Boston, which had to take place without an audience at short notice due to official orders. The concert took place anyway, now on the internet for everyone:

Charli XCX brings artists together

Not necessarily live concerts, but a lot of musical guests will be on in the next few days too Charli XCX’s Instagram channel to see. With theirs "Self-isolated live streams" Guests like Christine and the Queens, Diplo, Rita Ora, Kim Petras and Clairo will soon be guests to present “work-outs”, “art classes” and much more with their colleagues. We are excited!

Miley Cyrus with daily talk show on Instagram

The singer reports under the title "Bright Minded: Live with Miley" live every day at 7:30 p.m. German time on their Instagram channel. Miley Cyrus also speaks to prominent guests about serious topics, e.g. with a doctor about psychological problems during a quarantine.

Last week was about too Demi Lovato switched on from home and it was, among other things, about the curse and blessing of social media. In addition, there are insights into the everyday (corona) life of the stars. The talk series shortens the time until the beginning of September when Miley Cyrus makes her long-awaited live comeback in Berlin and Munich.

United We Stream: DJ sets from (empty) Berlin clubs

All Berlin clubs have been closed since last Friday (March 13th). That hits Berlin's unique club landscape particularly hard, thousands of employees, but also many DJs stay at home for the time being. Every day at 7 p.m. it's a different club and streams DJ sets in your living room. It started on Wednesday with a broadcast from the Watergate, where Monika Kruse and Claptone, among others, provided a bit of club feeling at home.

James Blunt alone in the Elbphilharmonie

Last week, James Blunt wanted to give a very special concert in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg in front of selected fans and lucky winners. In the end, no audience was allowed to attend, but the concert was streamed anyway - including unique scenes, such as cameramen singing along or a self-applauding James Blunt.

Cultural highlights & classical concerts in the live stream

The many cultural centers in Germany are also closed - from the Elbphilharmonie to the Berliner Volksbühne. The Berliner Philharmoniker have theirs until March 31st "Digital Concert Hall" free of charge for everyone made available, where both live streams and around 600 concerts from the last ten years can be viewed on demand.

Star violinist Daniel Hope invites artists and friends to come to his home in his living room. With music and conversations he wants to make his own contribution to "crisis management". Every day - for the time being until April 7th, Daniel Hope wants to im Live stream on arte.concert (and there at any time for subsequent retrieval) give a half-hour concert from his Berlin apartment with changing guests.

pianist Igor Levit reports a house concert from his apartment in Berlin every evening via Instagram. It usually starts at 7 p.m. - it's best to check your Twitter and Instagram accounts regularly.

The Berlin theaters are relocating many plays, readings, opera performances and much more online. Here you can find the “digital schedule” with links to many streaming offers.

Your favorite star is not there? Our tip: Check the channels of your stars on social networks regularly, especially Instagram & Twitter. Live streams of entire concerts, small acoustic sessions or DJ sets without an audience are announced there at short notice.

But not only can you follow artists in the social networks and experience live concert streams for free at home, it is also worth following record labels, venues, radio and TV stations and other (music) sources to be there .

For example, there are daily concerts on the Rolling Stone Instagram channel, such as a recent short live session by Beach Boys frontman Bryan Wilson.

The Austrian radio station FM4 offers “Stay At Home Sessions” every evening with exciting live acts that may not have been on the screen yet.

At Arte there are concerts, festival performances, operas, piano sonatas, DJ sets and much more in the stream on demand all year round.
