PUBG Mobile: Download, installation, requirements & Co.

After the success of the Battle Royal Shooter on PC and consoles, the genre is now also penetrating the mobile platforms Android and iOS. Since March 20th, the smartphone version of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds has also been officially available for download in Germany for Android phones, iPhone and iPad. Here is all the important information about installation, start and Co.

What is PUBG mobile?

PUBG mobile is the mobile version of the well-known survival shooter Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, which is very popular on Windows PCs and Xbox One. On a map that is getting smaller and smaller, 100 players fight for survival according to the last-man-standing principle - alone or in teams.

The Chinese internet giant Tencent owns the rights to the smartphone version of PUBG. PUBG Mobile launched this in China in February. The release for Android and iOS has now also taken place in Europe and the USA.

PUBG Mobile: download and installation

Since the European release, PUBG Mobile can be conveniently downloaded in Germany from the app stores. Here are the download links:

The installation is then carried out in the same way as other smartphone apps directly via the App Store. However, the minimum system requirements must be observed - because the game does not run on every mobile phone.

Note: So far the game is only available in English and Chinese. German is not yet available as a language.

PUBG Mobile: Requirements and Storage Space

PUBG Mobile relies on the Unreal Engine 4 and therefore needs a reasonably up-to-date smartphone for smooth gameplay. For iOS That means: You need at least the operating system version iOS 9.0 or higher and at least the iPhone 5S, an iPad mini 2, an iPad of the 5th generation or an iPod touch of the 6th generation. However, an iPhone 6 is recommended. The estimated storage space is 892.7 MB.

Under Android PUBG Mobile requires at least operating system version 4.3 or higher. However, Android 5.1.1 or higher and at least 2 GB RAM are recommended. A total of over 500 Android devices are to be supported.

Tip: PUBG Mobile offers three different quality settings in the graphics options. If you are struggling with stutters and FPS drops in the game, you can try to reduce these gradually.

PUBG Mobile APK: Install the app without the Play Store

The PUBG Mobile App is listed in the Play Store. However, some users who click on "Install" there receive the error message: "Your device is not compatible with this version". The solution is often an installation via the APK installation file - this is how it works:

  1. Download the current PUBG Mobile .APK from a trustworthy one onto your Android smartphone. We recommend the APKMirror: PUBG Mobile portal on as a download source
  2. Open the Android settings and select the "Security" submenu
  3. Scroll down to the section "Device management" and allow the installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store under the item "Unknown origin".
  4. Now switch to the downloaded APK file, open it and follow the installation instructions.
  5. Finished!

Note: Don't forget to deactivate the installation of apps from unknown sources afterwards. Otherwise this represents a security risk.

PUBG vs. PUBG Mobile: These are the differences

Tencent stuck closely to the original in the mobile implementation of the shooter. The Unreal Engine 4 looks amazingly close to the PC version and even a voice chat has been implemented. The game mechanics have also been implemented in the same way: 100 players compete against each other on an 8 x 8 km battlefield.

There is one difference to the PC and Xbox One version, however: In PUBG Mobile, bots also compete against the players to make it easier for newcomers to get started with the game. However, depending on the skill level of the players, there will be fewer bots.
